This typeface was inspired by a font used by Henrie Ballard. Ballard Font operated on Fleet Street at the Signe of the Bear in London, England. He was active in the industry from 1597-1608.

The font is meant to capture the feel of the original typeface with the capability of reproducing the many ligatures that are part of what makes that era’s printing interesting.

Inspired by Mariano Rivera who had one of the nastiest cutters in the game. Rivera is known for his utmost respect among his teammates and coaches.

This numeral set pays homage to his #1 pitch, the cutter.

Thomas Jefferys (ca. 1710–1771) was the best-known map engraver in 18th-century England, chiefly because he won (and hyped) the title Geographica Roman Font “Geographer to King George III.”

Jefferys was more an engraver/publisher than a geographer, really, since he mostly relied on the cartographic materials of others. Still, his maps of the North American colonies were well known.

Geographica Roman is the regular style of four in a serif text-type family modeled after the neat hand-lettered place names and peripheral text on Jefferys’s maps.

This legible font combines a hand-drawn warmth with a distinctly historical flair. With its long serifs and ample x-height, Geographica Roman will add classic elegance to long text blocks or display types, whether on paper or screen.
