The font SweynheymPannartz is strongly modeled after an example Conrad Sweynheym and Arnold Pannartz used in their early printing venture in Subiaco, Italy which began around 1465.

Their efforts were supported by Pope Sixtus the IV after they enthusiastically printed more books than they could sell.

They not only brought printing to Italy but also developed the first Roman-style type. This font has over 600 defined glyphs to cope with modern needs, and also the ability to use several abbreviations common to that period.

It also has an alternate minuscule “k” more modern in appearance for those that find the original too unusual.

In the early days of printing, everything had to be worked out from scratch. This set of lettering is based on section headings used by the Printer Lucas Brandis Font (no known relation), the first printer to operate in the city of Lübeck around 1473.

They remind me of a medieval version of the spray paint graffiti so often seen on the sides of trains. A bit on the crude side, but also and importantly extremely noticeable.

So whether you use it for creating old-styled printing or some wild modern eye-grabbing text item, its robust and sturdy shapes will be certain to grab the eye.

Rusch Font Adolf Rusch von Ingweiler was in the 19th century known mysteriously as the “R” printer. He was the first printer North of the Alps to introduce the new Roman-style the type known now as Antiqua.

He was active in the city of Strasbourg from around the early 1460s to 1489. One wonders if the unusual form of “R” was a personal conceit.

This font is, therefore, an Antiqua-style font and has over 1000 defined glyphs with wide support for medieval characters that have since fallen out of use.

The baseline was slightly tidied up in order to give the printed text an even cleaner look than the original.

The letters are very close approximations of the original type catalogued by the “Veröffentlichungen der Gesellschaft für Typenkunde des 15.

Jahrhunderts” as Typ.1:103R GfT1197. This family comprises regular, oblique, bold, oblique bold, and small caps in both OTF and TTF formats and contains a complete character map. There is also a modern small “k” for those not so adventurous as to use the historical form.

Frederick Cody, as known as Buffalo Bill, and his renowned travelling Western Circus are now celebrated through the creation of the Buffalo Circus and the Buffalo Western-type fonts, both developed quite in the spirit of the stirring wood-type fonts from the 19th century.

All characters are fully hand traced and vectorized and provided with appealing glyphs and cool catchwords.
